The Family YMCA of Prince George's REC Room is a youth-driven environment that keeps youth connected, active and free from boredom!
This is a fun space designed for youth and family as a place to come and be with friends, relax and get away from routine.
The REC Room includes programming for recreation, sports, creativity, culture as well as unstructured social time in a place that celebrates youth and family.

Staffed Hours
| Monday - Friday | 2:30pm - 7:30pm |
| Saturday | 10:00am - 7:00pm |
| Sunday | 12:00pm - 5:00pm |
| Holidays | 10:00am - 5:00pm |
During staffed hours:
- Play structure is open
- Rock wall is open
- Video games are available
- Table games are available
- Tot toys are available
When the REC Room is staffed, children under the age of nine must still be supervised. Outside of these times the REC Room is open for use but not staffed.
During unstaffed hours:
- Play structure is open
- Tot toys are available
- Table game pieces can be borrowed from the front desk
Children under the age of thirteen must not be left unsupervised by a parent or guardian if there are no staff in the room.
Why did the YMCA decide to create the REC Room?
Our membership continues to grow with a greater focus on family‐oriented and quality multi‐use programming.
Approximately 22% of Prince George’s population is under the age of 17. 50% of these children and youth are not active enough for basic healthy development. There needs to be safe and accessible options available for youth recreation and fitness.
The REC Room is home to:
- 2,500 sq ft of extended fitness space and 2,500 sq ft of youth and family designated space
- New Equipment
- Higher Ceilings
- Climbing Wall
- Games and Meeting Area
- and much, much more!
