Giving
When you give to the Family YMCA of Prince George, you have a direct impact in Prince George by supporting essential programs for children, families and seniors. Rooted in more than 1,000 communities around the country, the YMCA has the long-standing relationships and physical presence not just to promise, but to deliver, lasting personal and social change.
Your support also helps make Y programs accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. Last year we provided $167,000 in subsidies and want to do even more - see below for examples of what your donations can do!
Children
$175 sends an under privileged child to Camp Kanannaq for one week
$60 allows a child to enroll in beginner ice skating lessons and rent skates
Youth
$360 gives a teenager a one year YMCA membership where they can learn the importance of physical fitness
$500 supports a teen in the Borealis Counsellor-In-Training program at Camp Kanannaq
Families
$250 gives a family a three-month YMCA membership where they can be active together
$400 gives a senior a one year YMCA membership where they can be active physically and socially
Community
$200 supports monthly pet care at Simon Fraser Lodge
$400 buys a month’s worth of after school snacks at Highland Community Centre
$100 buys a week’s worth of healthy groceries for Youth Around Prince (YAP)
Legacy
Ryan Shiels Fund - Ryan’s family and friends created this fund to honour his love of the great outdoors. Dividends from the fund are used "to provide encouragement, support and financial assistance to help young people aspire to and achieve greater individual accomplishments."
Garret McComb Fund - Created by his family in 2008 to remember Garett and his appreciation of higher education for himself and those around him. Funds are directed towards those who access the Youth Around Prince George Resource Centre (YAP) and need support in meeting their educational goals.Planned Giving allows you to make a legacy donation to the Family YMCA of Prince George in the form of cash, property, stocks/bonds and life insurance. Your contribution will be respectfully managed and recognized.
